Nokia and Nscale Join Forces to Accelerate Global AI Infrastructure
Nokia has teamed up with Nscale, a UK-based AI-native infrastructure platform, in a move set to reshape the global AI infrastructure landscape. The partnership designates Nokia as Nscale’s preferred provider of networking technologies for large-scale AI clusters, including data center switching, IP routing, and optical networking solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of AI-ready data centers worldwide.
The timing of the partnership aligns with an unprecedented surge in AI adoption. Industries ranging from finance and healthcare to manufacturing and logistics are increasingly relying on AI workloads that demand immense computing power. By leveraging Nokia’s networking expertise, Nscale intends to build secure, energy-efficient, and scalable data centers capable of handling these high-intensity tasks.
$1.1 Billion Funding to Power Global Expansion
Backing the partnership is Nscale’s successful $1.1 billion Series B funding round, led by Norwegian energy group Aker ASA and supported by industry heavyweights including Nvidia, Dell, Fidelity, and Nokia itself. The funding is earmarked for expanding AI infrastructure across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, ensuring Nscale can meet growing enterprise and research demand for high-performance AI clusters.
A centerpiece of this expansion is the "Stargate Norway" project, a $1 billion facility in northern Norway. The facility, a joint venture between Aker and Nscale, plans to deploy 100,000 Nvidia processors by the end of 2026. Notably, the entire facility will operate on renewable energy, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable and sovereign AI infrastructure.
By combining Nokia’s networking solutions with Nscale’s AI infrastructure platform, the partnership is poised to accelerate the rollout of scalable, secure, and energy-efficient AI data centers. This collaboration also highlights a broader trend: established technology providers partnering with AI infrastructure companies to address the rising global demand for computational power.
Through joint innovation and strategic investments, Nokia and Nscale are positioning themselves as key players in the AI infrastructure ecosystem. Their combined expertise aims to deliver reliable, high-performing solutions that can handle the increasingly complex workloads of AI applications worldwide.
