Cassava Technologies and Gebeya Partner to Launch AI-Powered Creator Platform for Africa
Cassava Technologies and Gebeya Inc. have announced a strategic partnership to launch Gebeya Dala, a new suite of AI-powered tools aimed at enabling Africans with ideas to participate in the digital economy as creators. The platform will run on Cassava’s AI-ready data centres and digital infrastructure.
Cassava Technologies
is a global technology company of African heritage, while Gebeya provides an
ecosystem supporting Africa’s service economy. Together, the companies say the
collaboration is focused on expanding access to digital creation tools across
the continent.
Lowering
Barriers to Digital Creation
Gebeya Dala is
designed for users without technical or creative training, targeting
individuals who may not have prior experience in software development or
digital art. According to the companies, the platform’s initial modules
include:
·
An AI-powered app builder, which allows users to create functional applications
using simple instructions, including prompts in local languages, without
requiring coding skills.
·
An AI comic book creator, which enables users to turn stories into comic and
manga-style visuals without formal artistic training.
The tools are
positioned as a way to reduce entry barriers to the digital economy,
particularly for young people across Africa.
Infrastructure and Platform Integration
The partnership
combines Cassava’s cloud capabilities and GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS)
infrastructure with Gebeya’s platform focused on digital talent and services.
The companies state that this integration is intended to make AI tools
accessible while ensuring they are developed and deployed within Africa.
Africa’s digital future must be built in Africa, by Africans. Our partnership with Gebeya brings this to life by making advanced AI accessible to every young creator, entrepreneur, and storyteller across the continent, said Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Cassava AI. He added that the collaboration aims to support local innovation and talent development.
Focus on Local
Data and Models
A key component
of the initiative is the joint development of culturally relevant Large Language
Models (LLMs) and AI tools. Cassava and Gebeya say that data processing and
model training will take place on Cassava’s infrastructure within Africa, a
setup intended to support data sovereignty, reduce latency, and comply with
local regulatory requirements.
Our mission is to build the operating system for Africa’s digital economy, and that begins by empowering the millions, not the few, said Amadou Daffe, CEO and co-founder of Gebeya. He noted that the platform is intended to allow individuals without technical backgrounds to create digital products and content.
Go-to-Market Plans
The partnership also includes a joint go-to-market
strategy aimed at introducing Gebeya Dala to students, entrepreneurs, and
creatives across multiple African markets. The companies did not disclose a
launch timeline or pricing details for the platform.
