Moniepoint has acquired Orda, a cloud-based restaurant management platform, in a strategic move to embed its payment infrastructure directly into restaurant operations. Following the acquisition, Orda will be rebranded as Moniebook for Restaurants and integrated into Moniepoint’s broader business management suite, Moniebook. The development marks a significant step in Moniepoint’s transition from a payments-focused fintech into a full-stack operating system built to power African businesses end to end.

Expanding Into Nigeria’s Fast-Growing Food Service Market

The acquisition strengthens Moniepoint’s position in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding restaurant industry, which is projected to reach $12.37 billion by 2026. The company already processes a large share of restaurant transactions nationwide. In 2025 alone, Nigerians reportedly spent about $5.83 million per day in restaurants through Moniepoint’s infrastructure, highlighting its growing influence in the sector.

Despite this scale, many restaurants still rely on fragmented and manual processes. Moniepoint's leadership has emphasised that operational inefficiencies from inventory tracking to payment reconciliation continue to slow down growth across the industry. Orda was built specifically to address these challenges, offering tools tailored to restaurant workflows.

The platform includes features such as ingredient-level inventory tracking, menu management, recipe combination control, and operational analytics. These capabilities have helped it gain adoption among major restaurant operators, including brands under the Eat’N’Go group, which manages Domino’s Pizza and Cold Stone Creamery locations across Nigeria.

Bringing Payments and Restaurant Operations Into One System

Moniepoint plans to merge order management and payment processing into a unified experience. With Moniebook for Restaurants, staff will be able to take orders and process payments through a Moniepoint POS within the same software environment.

This integration enables instant payment confirmation, automatic transaction closure, consolidated digital receipts, and the elimination of manual reconciliation. By connecting payments directly to operational workflows, the system reduces errors and closes gaps that can lead to revenue leakage.

The unified structure also ensures that every transaction is automatically recorded and linked to the restaurant’s financial data, improving transparency and simplifying day-to-day operations.

Enabling Data-Driven Financial Services

The integration creates a powerful data layer that Moniepoint can use to deliver tailored financial products. With access to real-time sales and operational insights, the company can develop performance-based lending solutions designed around each restaurant’s revenue patterns and cash flow cycles.

This approach allows Moniepoint to move beyond payment processing and into embedded finance, offering businesses funding that aligns with their actual performance.

Deepening Integration With Delivery Platforms

A key part of the roadmap involves strengthening integrations with delivery platforms such as Chowdeck and Glovo. Orda already allows restaurants to aggregate orders from these services into a single dashboard. Moniepoint plans to expand this capability within Moniebook so restaurants can manage walk-in, online, and delivery orders from one interface.

This unified system will allow restaurant owners to track inventory, monitor sales, handle payments, and manage orders across channels without switching between multiple tools.

Building a Full Operating System for Businesses

The acquisition aligns with Moniepoint’s broader strategy of building a comprehensive operating system for African merchants. By embedding financial services into operational tools, the company becomes deeply integrated into businesses’ daily workflows rather than operating only at the payment stage.

Although the deal currently covers Orda’s Nigerian operations, it is expected to increase transaction volume while strengthening merchant engagement. For restaurant operators, the combined platform offers a single solution to manage inventory, payments, reporting, and daily operations more efficiently.

A Major Step for Nigeria’s Fintech and Restaurant Ecosystem

Moniepoint’s acquisition of Orda reflects a growing trend across Africa, where fintech companies are merging financial services with operational software to create all-in-one business ecosystems. The move positions Moniepoint as a more embedded partner in business growth while giving restaurants a fully integrated system linking operations with real-time payments.

As adoption grows, the launch of Moniebook for Restaurants could reshape how food businesses manage transactions, operations, and growth while pushing the broader industry toward more automated, data-driven commerce.
