Adobe has announced plans to acquire Topaz Labs, the company behind a range of AI-powered image and video enhancement tools, as competition in the creative software market continues to intensify.

The deal will see Topaz Labs become part of Adobe's creative business, with its technology expected to be integrated across Adobe's growing portfolio of AI-powered products, including Firefly and Creative Cloud.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Bringing Advanced AI Editing Into Adobe's Ecosystem

Topaz Labs has spent more than two decades developing image and video enhancement software used by photographers, filmmakers and creative professionals.

In recent years, the company expanded into artificial intelligence, launching tools such as Astra for video upscaling and Wonder for image enhancement and retouching.

Adobe said it plans to integrate these technologies into its existing creative products while continuing to offer Topaz Labs' tools as standalone services.

According to the company, the acquisition will help improve tasks such as image sharpening, noise reduction, video restoration and archival footage enhancement.
