Google has introduced new artificial intelligence-powered features in Search ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, integrating its Gemini assistant into real-time football queries, statistics, and match analysis.

The update is designed to transform Search into a live companion for football fans, delivering instant insights, tactical breakdowns, and contextual information during matches. Users will be able to ask complex questions about ongoing games and receive AI-generated summaries and data-driven responses.

AI-Driven Fan Engagement Tools

Beyond live match information, Google is also introducing creative generation features that allow users to produce memes, songs, cartoons, and other visual content based on match events. The goal is to increase fan engagement and encourage social sharing during major sporting moments.

This reflects a broader shift toward interactive search experiences powered by generative AI rather than static results.

Integration With Argentina National Team

The rollout follows a partnership with Argentina, the defending World Cup champions, where Gemini will be integrated into training and performance analysis. The system will support tactical evaluation, opposition analysis, and performance review for coaching staff and players.

Gemini branding will also appear on team training kits, signalling a deeper integration of AI tools into elite sports environments.

The development highlights how AI is increasingly moving beyond consumer applications into professional sport, analytics, and performance optimisation.
