X has introduced a “React with Video” feature that allows users to respond to posts using video, extending interaction beyond traditional text-based replies.

The feature enables users to record responses directly from posts and supports formats such as split screen, green screen and picture-in-picture, allowing more flexible and expressive commentary within the feed.

Shift towards video-first engagement

The update reflects a broader shift on social platforms towards video-driven communication. Users can now respond with spoken commentary, visual analysis or contextual reactions without leaving the platform.

The feature is positioned to support creators, journalists and commentators who rely on more expressive formats for engagement, while also increasing content visibility through video-based replies.

Availability limited to iOS rollout

The move places X further in line with competing platforms where short-form video continues to dominate engagement patterns, particularly TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.

The feature is currently available on iOS, with no confirmed timeline for Android rollout, leaving full-scale adoption dependent on broader device availability and user uptake.
