CREDICORP Launches Laptop Credit Scheme to Put 1,000 Nigerians on the Digital Track
The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has launched a new initiative to provide 1,000 Nigerians with locally assembled laptops, using consumer credit to expand access to digital tools for learning, work and entrepreneurship.
The programme, known as Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.), was launched in Abuja on July 21, 2026, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The initiative is designed to make laptops more accessible to Nigerians who may otherwise struggle to afford digital devices upfront, while supporting young people looking to build digital skills and participate in the country's growing digital economy.
1,000 Laptops to Reach Digital Learners
The first phase targets fellows enrolled in Learn2Earn, a digital education platform for Nigerians aged 18 to 35.
To deliver the programme, CREDICORP is working with Fidelity Bank, NASENI Innovation Hub and Imose Technologies to distribute 1,000 locally assembled laptops to eligible beneficiaries across the country.
The rollout has already begun, with 77 beneficiaries receiving their laptops at the launch event held at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre in Abuja. The remaining devices will be distributed in phases as the programme expands nationwide.
Credit Meets Digital Inclusion
Beyond providing access to devices, CREDICORP said the programme demonstrates how consumer credit can support digital inclusion while strengthening Nigeria's local technology manufacturing ecosystem.
By prioritising locally assembled laptops, the initiative connects access to digital tools with efforts to support domestic production and create more opportunities for Nigerians to participate in the digital economy.
Access to reliable digital devices remains a key factor in online learning, remote work, digital entrepreneurship and technology-driven employment. Through C.L.I.C.K.D., CREDICORP and its partners aim to help more Nigerians move from learning digital skills to applying them in work and business.
