Dangote Group and the Tanzanian government are exploring potential partnerships in infrastructure, energy, fertiliser production and regional trade following high-level talks between Dangote Group President and CEO Aliko Dangote and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The meeting, held at the State House in Dar es Salaam, focused on expanding Dangote Group's investments in Tanzania and identifying projects that could support the country's industrialisation and economic development.

Projects Under Discussion

The proposed areas of collaboration include port development, a 40-kilometre concrete access road to support port operations, a special trade zone and transport infrastructure linking Mtwara with Mbamba Bay in southern Tanzania.

The discussions also covered a proposed 2,000-megawatt coal-fired power plant and a urea fertiliser plant, as well as opportunities to strengthen regional trade.

Dangote also invited the Tanzanian government to participate in the Group's planned East African refinery investment in Lamu, Kenya.

President Samia welcomed Dangote Group's continued interest in Tanzania and directed relevant government ministries and agencies to begin detailed technical discussions on the proposed projects.

Partnership Builds on Existing Investment

Dangote Group already has a significant presence in Tanzania through its $500 million cement plant in Mtwara, which has an annual production capacity of three million tonnes and supplies the domestic market and neighbouring countries.

A Tanzanian government delegation is expected to visit Nigeria to advance discussions and develop implementation frameworks for the proposed projects.

The partnership could deepen Dangote Group's investment in Tanzania while supporting the country's infrastructure development, industrialisation, energy supply and regional trade ambitions.
