inwi Partners with Huawei to Improve Mobile Coverage Across Morocco’s Railways and Highways
Morocco’s telecom operator inwi has partnered with Huawei to upgrade mobile coverage across major railway and highway routes, targeting better connectivity for passengers and motorists travelling across the country.
The deployment introduces Huawei’s dual-band 1.8 GHz + 2.1 GHz 8T8R solution along key transport corridors, including Morocco’s high-speed railway network.
New Technology Targets Coverage Gaps
The network upgrade uses Huawei’s HyperBeamforming technology to deliver stronger and more focused mobile signals along transportation routes.
According to inwi and Huawei, the solution provides a 13 dB coverage gain compared with traditional 2T2R networks and can extend coverage by nearly one kilometre.
The companies also reported an 83% improvement in average user-perceived download speeds and a 3.2-fold increase in the number of active users supported by the network.
Faster Connections Without More Base Stations
The 8T8R solution combines high-gain antennas with HyperBeamforming to concentrate signals more precisely and reduce interference.
The technology can expand coverage from a single site by around 30%, helping address connectivity gaps created by long distances between existing base stations.
This could allow inwi to improve coverage along major transport routes without having to build additional physical sites, potentially reducing deployment costs.
Huawei and inwi Expand Network Partnership
The deployment forms part of inwi’s wider strategy to improve network performance across Morocco's busiest mobility corridors.
The companies said the upgraded infrastructure will support the country's growing demand for reliable mobile connectivity while contributing to Morocco's broader digital transformation.
