KCB Bank Kenya has partnered with Mastercard to expand Shariah-compliant financial services with the launch of new digital payment and agency banking solutions under its Sahl Banking platform.

The partnership is aimed at improving access to Islamic banking services while promoting greater financial inclusion across Kenya.

New Sahl Card for Islamic Banking Customers

As part of the collaboration, KCB has introduced the Sahl Card, a Shariah-compliant payment card designed to help customers make secure everyday purchases while adhering to Islamic finance principles.

The card also offers travel, lifestyle and dining benefits, alongside features such as transaction alerts, spending controls and concierge services.

Agency Banking Network Expands Access

KCB has also launched the Sahl Agency Banking network, allowing customers to deposit and withdraw cash, make payments and access other banking services through authorised banking agents.

The bank said the initiative is intended to make Shariah-compliant financial services more accessible, particularly for customers outside traditional banking locations.

Driving Financial Inclusion

According to KCB, both the Sahl Card and Agency Banking network have been developed in line with Islamic finance principles while providing customers with secure and convenient banking services.

The partnership with Mastercard supports KCB's broader strategy to expand its Islamic banking portfolio and strengthen financial inclusion by offering banking solutions tailored to the needs and values of diverse customer groups.
