Kenya has begun rolling out smart classrooms in Nyandarua County under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), equipping junior secondary schools with smartboards and teacher laptops to strengthen digital learning.

The initiative forms part of the government's broader strategy to integrate technology into education and prepare students for the digital economy.

172 Schools to Benefit in First Phase

The first phase of the programme will provide 172 junior secondary schools across Nyandarua County with smartboards and laptops for teachers.

According to the government, the remaining schools in the county will be covered during the second phase to ensure all learners have access to digital learning resources.

Building Digitally Enabled Classrooms

Beyond supplying devices, the project aims to establish digitally enabled classrooms, improve school technology infrastructure and equip teachers with modern digital teaching tools.

Officials say the initiative will enhance classroom instruction while helping students develop the digital skills needed for future employment and innovation.

Supporting Kenya's Digital Economy Goals

The smart classroom rollout is part of the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project, which seeks to strengthen digital inclusion and build a workforce equipped for an increasingly technology-driven economy.

The government said the programme reflects its long-term commitment to investing in education, digital infrastructure and human capital to ensure every learner can participate in Kenya's digital future.
