The new platform brings services from multiple government agencies under one digital gateway, reducing the need to navigate separate portals.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the Government Service Portal (GSP), a unified digital platform designed to give citizens, businesses and non-citizens a single gateway to access public services from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The portal was launched in Abuja by Galaxy Backbone in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

One Portal, Multiple Government Services

The platform aims to address the fragmented nature of Nigeria's digital public services, where citizens often have to visit different government websites, create multiple accounts and repeatedly submit the same personal or business information.

The GSP introduces a single sign-on system that allows users to securely access services using their National Identification Number (NIN) or verified business credentials.

Users will also receive centralised tracking reference IDs, allowing them to monitor the progress of applications submitted across participating government agencies.

The platform is designed to support paperless processing and reduce the need for physical visits to government offices.

Testing Shows Strong Early Response

Ahead of the soft launch, Galaxy Backbone conducted user experience testing with 184 participants from different sectors.

According to the organisation, 88% of participants were able to find specific government services on their first attempt, while more than 80% rated the platform as intuitive and user-friendly.

The testing also found that 91% of participants would use the platform for future government interactions, while 99% said they would recommend it to others.

More Agencies to Join

The launch marks the beginning of a phased rollout, with selected government agencies expected to onboard their services during the pilot phase.

Galaxy Backbone and the FMCIDE are calling on other federal ministries and agencies to integrate their services into the platform as the government works towards a broader nationwide deployment.

The Government Service Portal is expected to become a key part of Nigeria's digital public infrastructure, with the Federal Government positioning it as a way to make public services faster, more accessible and easier to navigate.
