OnePlus to Stop Launching New Products in Europe and North America
OnePlus has announced that it will no longer launch new products in Europe and North America, marking a significant shift in the smartphone maker's global strategy as its parent company, Oppo, restructures its international operations.
The company confirmed the decision in a statement, saying that after careful assessment it had decided to discontinue new product launches in both regions while assuring existing users that after-sales services and software support would remain unaffected.
According to OnePlus, customers will continue to receive software updates, warranty services and customer support, despite the company's withdrawal from introducing new devices in those markets.
Strategic Shift
The announcement follows reports that OnePlus is scaling back its operations outside China as part of a broader corporate restructuring by Oppo.
Founded in 2013, OnePlus built its reputation by offering flagship smartphone specifications at competitive prices before expanding into premium smartphones, tablets, wearables and its Nord range of affordable devices.
Industry analysts attribute the move to weakening global smartphone demand, rising component costs and increasing pressure on consumer spending, which have affected smartphone manufacturers worldwide.
Focus on Core Markets
While exiting Europe and North America for future product launches, OnePlus is expected to maintain its presence in China, with reports indicating that Oppo will continue expanding other brands, including Realme, in selected international markets.
The decision comes as the global smartphone market continues to face declining shipments amid ongoing supply chain constraints and softer consumer demand, prompting manufacturers to reassess expansion strategies and prioritise key markets.
