Snapchat is changing how its Spotlight recommendation system rewards content, removing fully AI-generated videos from eligibility as the platform moves to prioritise human-made content.

AI Content Loses Spotlight Rewards

Under the new policy, fully AI-generated videos will no longer qualify for Spotlight recommendations. Snapchat says the move is intended to keep the platform focused on original creativity, personal storytelling and content created by real people.

Creators can still use Snapchat’s AI tools to edit or enhance their videos.

Another Platform Pushes Back on AI Slop

Snapchat joins a growing number of platforms changing how they handle low-quality AI content.

LinkedIn recently introduced an “Seems like AI slop” reporting option, while YouTube has tightened monetisation rules around repetitive and inauthentic content.

The changes reflect growing concerns over AI-generated content flooding social platforms and reducing the visibility of original human-created work.
