WhatsApp is testing a new “Offers & Updates” folder that will automatically move messages from large businesses, such as banks and airlines, out of users’ main inboxes.

Business Messages Move Automatically

Under the test, WhatsApp will move messages such as discount offers, delivery updates and other business communications to the new folder after a set period, with testing currently covering delays of up to 24 hours.

Users can switch off the feature if they want business messages to remain in their main chat timeline, although they will not be able to choose when individual messages are moved.



WhatsApp Targets Inbox Clutter

The feature is currently being tested with selected businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform. Small businesses and individual WhatsApp Business accounts are not included in the initial test.

The move comes as WhatsApp expands its business messaging and AI tools, with more than 1 million businesses already using its AI business agents globally.
