Zain KSA Becomes First in Saudi Arabia to Launch Commercial 5G-Advanced
Zain KSA has launched the commercial rollout of 5G-Advanced (5G+), becoming the first company in Saudi Arabia to make the next-generation connectivity technology available to customers.
The rollout marks another step in the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure development and builds on Zain KSA’s earlier launch of Saudi Arabia’s first 5G Standalone (5G SA) network.
5G+ Brings Faster and More Reliable Connectivity
5G-Advanced is designed to deliver higher speeds, lower latency and improved network reliability compared with existing 5G services. The technology is expected to improve performance across applications such as ultra-HD streaming, cloud gaming, video calls and AI-powered services.
It also offers more consistent connectivity in high-density locations, improved indoor coverage and greater battery efficiency on compatible devices. Enhanced mobility performance and higher upload efficiency are also expected to support a wider range of digital services.
The technology could also provide the foundation for emerging connectivity applications, including Voice over New Radio (VoNR), RedCap technologies and other next-generation communications services.
Initial Rollout Covers Riyadh and Jeddah
The initial commercial deployment covers Riyadh and Jeddah, with Zain KSA using the 600 MHz spectrum alongside other frequency bands to strengthen coverage and improve connectivity, particularly indoors and in areas requiring broader signal reach.
The deployment is part of the company's wider strategy to build a future-ready network capable of supporting the growing demands of Saudi Arabia's digital economy.
“ The commercial launch of 5G-Advanced (5G+) marks another milestone in Zain KSA’s journey to redefine the connectivity experience by bringing the world’s latest innovations into the everyday lives of our customers.”
Supporting Saudi Arabia's Digital Transformation
According to Zain KSA, the rollout reflects its continued investment in advanced digital infrastructure and supports the Kingdom's ambitions under Saudi Vision 2030.
Beyond improving consumer connectivity, 5G-Advanced is expected to support the development of technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT), while enabling businesses and organisations to adopt more advanced digital services.
The launch further strengthens Zain KSA’s position in Saudi Arabia’s telecommunications market as the country continues to invest in next-generation infrastructure and expand its digital economy.
