Google is preparing to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the Pixel 11 Pro XL, at its Made by Google event scheduled for August 12, 2026, in New York City. Although the device has yet to be officially announced, multiple credible leaks and regulatory filings have revealed much of what consumers can expect, including upgraded hardware, new AI-powered features, and higher pricing.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL is expected to debut alongside the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel Watch 5, with pre-orders likely opening immediately after the launch event. Market reports also suggest the smartphone could become available for purchase on August 20, following Google's usual release timeline.

The flagship device is rumored to feature a 6.8-inch Super Actua OLED LTPO display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3,600 nits, offering improved visibility in bright outdoor conditions. The screen will reportedly be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while maintaining Google's premium design language.

Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to be powered by Google's next-generation Tensor G6 processor, built using TSMC's advanced 2-nanometre manufacturing process. The chipset will be paired with a Titan M3 security chip and a new MediaTek modem capable of supporting satellite connectivity, dual-active 5G SIM functionality, and download speeds of up to 12Gbps.

Storage options are expected to include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants. Reports suggest the base 256GB model will feature 12GB of RAM, while higher storage options will receive 16GB, a change Google attributes to increased memory costs globally.

Photography remains one of the Pixel lineup's strongest selling points. The Pixel 11 Pro XL is expected to retain a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom. While leaks disagree on the front-facing camera resolution, expectations point to improvements in Google's AI-powered computational photography capabilities.

Battery life is expected to be supported by a 5,115mAh battery with 45W wired charging and Qi2 wireless charging, although Google is expected to continue shipping the phone without a charging adapter in the box.

One of the standout additions is a new customizable notification lighting system called HiLight (previously referred to as Pixel Glow). Integrated into the camera bar, the RGB lighting feature allows users to assign different colors for notifications and contacts, adding a new level of personalization to the device.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL is also expected to launch with Android 17 and benefit from Google's commitment to seven years of software updates, including Android OS upgrades, security patches, and Pixel Feature Drops.

Google has confirmed that pricing for the new lineup will increase compared to the previous generation, citing rising component costs, particularly memory chips. Every storage variant is expected to cost approximately $100 more than its Pixel 10 Pro XL equivalent.

The smartphone is expected to be available through the Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy, major mobile carriers in the United States, and selected retailers across Europe and the United Kingdom following its official unveiling.
