Mercedes-Benz has marked 140 years of automotive innovation in Kenya with the launch of its latest S-Class sedan during an anniversary event at Muthaiga Golf & Country Club in Nairobi.

Hosted by CFAO Mobility Kenya, the event brought together Mercedes-Benz customers, business leaders, automotive enthusiasts and German Ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth as the luxury automaker continues its global 140th-anniversary celebrations.

A Global Celebration Comes to Kenya

The Nairobi event forms part of Mercedes-Benz’s “140 Years. 140 Places” campaign, a global journey featuring three S-Class sedans travelling more than 60,000 kilometres across six continents and 140 locations connected to the company’s history and global presence.

The expedition began in Stuttgart, Germany, and has already passed through more than 70 destinations across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Kenya is one of the selected stops before the vehicles complete their journey back to Stuttgart in October 2026.

The campaign is designed to celebrate Mercedes-Benz’s heritage while highlighting the markets that continue to play a role in its global story.

The New S-Class Takes Centre Stage

The latest S-Class was the main attraction at the Nairobi event, showcasing Mercedes-Benz’s focus on technology, comfort, safety and connectivity.

The flagship sedan has traditionally served as a technology showcase for the automaker, with innovations introduced in the S-Class often influencing vehicles across its wider range.

CFAO Mobility Kenya currently offers several Mercedes-Benz models in the country, including the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class sedans, as well as the GLC, GLE, GLS and G-Class SUVs.

Its commercial vehicle lineup includes the Vito, V-Class and Sprinter.

A Long History in Kenya

Mercedes-Benz has maintained a presence in Kenya since 1949, when the brand was represented by DT Dobie. The company later became part of CFAO Mobility Kenya following the integration of CFAO Motors and DT Dobie in 2023.

The anniversary therefore represents more than a global milestone for the brand; it also highlights decades of Mercedes-Benz's presence in the Kenyan automotive market.

Arvinder Reel, managing director of CFAO Mobility Kenya, described the celebration as an opportunity to reflect on the company's legacy, which began with Carl Benz's 1886 patent for the Motorwagen.

Beyond Selling Luxury Cars

CFAO Mobility Kenya says its role extends beyond vehicle sales, with investments in technical expertise, facilities and customer service forming part of its approach to the Mercedes-Benz brand.

As luxury vehicle manufacturers increasingly compete through technology, personalization and the overall ownership experience, the company is positioning customer service and technical support as important parts of its offering.

With Kenya increasingly serving as a regional commercial and innovation hub, the Nairobi celebration connects Mercedes-Benz's historic contribution to the automobile industry with the future of premium mobility in Africa.

The global 140th-anniversary expedition will continue until its planned return to Stuttgart in October, with Kenya now firmly included in Mercedes-Benz's 140-year journey.
