Ride-hailing platform Bolt has launched a nationwide recognition programme for its top-performing and longest-serving drivers across Nigeria, as part of efforts to improve service quality and strengthen engagement within its driver community.

The initiative has already been implemented in Lagos and Calabar, with additional recognition events planned for Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Benin, and Ibadan. A total of 50 drivers will be honoured across participating cities.

Performance-based recognition system

Drivers were selected based on platform-generated performance data, including completed trips, consistency of activity, adherence to service standards, and overall customer experience metrics. Selected drivers received rewards such as televisions, air conditioners, washing machines, and deep freezers.

Bolt said the programme is designed to formalise recognition of drivers who consistently deliver high service standards on the platform, while reinforcing long-term engagement.

Driver welfare and platform competition

The initiative forms part of a broader strategy by Bolt to improve driver welfare and retention. The company has also introduced complementary programmes including discounted health insurance access, safety training, and ongoing community engagement initiatives.

As competition intensifies in Nigeria’s ride-hailing sector, platforms are increasingly focusing on driver satisfaction as a key differentiator in service reliability and customer experience.
